It was hot Sunday at the historic Mottville Speedway I can you that!
Temperature was near 90!
Glenna Root mowed 7 hours and it really showed!
We desperately needed it after mower troubles and all the week-end rain.
Well it came race time and no photographer and no drawing person!
So we told Glenna she would need to take phots.
Bu the Heaven arrived as a sub for the photographer sop we told Glenna she would be selling drawing tickets but then Holly Smith arrived.
The reason Glenna might have been available was because Keri Martz opened the concession stand and go it ready since Emily Root graduated on Sunday from East Noble.
Roots felt they would be late but actually there were not!
Three new cars!
Doug Gallandt with a new 88 Mottville Stock and very fast!
Clay Crowner with a new #12 MOttville Stock but still has problems!
At least he ran a heat and got it to the track so that is progress!
I really do feel bad for Clay because he has had so many problems week after week trying to get that car to the track!
New MTC 39 was Skyler Arbucke and Mark Gross from Plymouth, team driving.
IN pre race inspection our 3 inspectors found the 18 Hornet did not meet the Horne rules so he was given the option to run MTC this week and if he can fix the problem go back to Hornet next week.
He ran MTC and did quite well!
We tied our season high with 9 MS and some really fast cars!
Dustin Kline caught a huge break early and got the lead and went on to win while the other fast cars were caught in a huge battle for 2nd on back!
Holly Smith was figuring on 3 features but we only had 2 so she was late with the tickets and our MS driers off turn 3 had to wait for their feature!
Not good and I felt bad about it with the heat but nothing I could do but try to make sure it does not happen again!
Great to have JR Long back with us but I could tell he was hurting big time!
Please keep JR in your prayers!
Jason Harman just flat out dominated the MTC feature and I mean dominated it!
Never seen Jason this fast!
I had hope we would see the great Bobby Laughter race again at Mottville but he pulled the 12 car to the pits right after taking the green!
Sure hope they it corrected for next week!
I wan to compliment our track crew-Dana Demerly, Eric Lee and Mike Jones on the fine job they are doing and especially in the heat Sunday!
Much appreciated for sure!!!
This season we have set our schedule so our specials do not come until mid-June and on because car count is always a problem in May and early June.
So we had the Memorial Day trophy night and that was it for specials prior to June 17 but they sure are coming fast and furious starting June 17!
Just a couple of observations : First I do hope everyone can see just how tough it is to start a new class of racing!
Last year we tried mini vans and despite those who claimed they would build one, we had exactly one all season!
Now M-40 is trying Bombers and so far zero!
Yet when they announced it boy did they ever have the posts saying the would run big Caddys etc!
I was hoping they would take off at M-40 because I feel Bombers could also be run at the historic Mottville Speedway!
Regarding our June 17 Mottville Stock Special.
This has nothing at all to do with any reaction to SBMS!
It is all about New Paris running a NOD and giving us a chance to run on a Saturday night and giving us a better shot of getting a good field of MS!
I am sure both SBMS and the historic Mottville Speedway will get plenty of MS on that date!
Racing returns to the historic Mottville Speedway Sunday, June 11 with gates opening at 5 PM and racing at 6 PM.
Saturday, June 17 we have a Mottville Stock Special paying $500 two in and Sunday, June 25 a MTC special paying $300 to win!
Please note that all 3 classes will run both nights!
Then comes July and boy oh boy is our July schedule ever loaded!
July 4-Instant Cash of Three Rivers Trophy night!
July 16-Mid-season championship trophy night!
Saturday, July 22-GLS MINI CUPS!
July 30-6th Annual Larry Birk Memorial sponsored by Bullet Race cars!
After that there is only 4 dates the rest of the season which goes to the end of October that we do not have some kind of special!
Racing returns to the historic Mottville Speedway on Sunday, June 11 with gates opening at 5 PM and racing at 6 PM!
We have decided to open at 5 since one hour before race time seems to be enough time!
I am super excited!
What about you?
