Ride Along

Postby Frankie_D » Fri Feb 26, 2010 9:55 am

Ok we need some feedback on this idea. The intent is to give children with disabilities and serious diseases (Leukemia) a free ride of a lifetime. One that they might not otherwise get. It would also be available at a cost to anyone who wanted a ride. We would travel to different tracks throughout the area. There is so much more to this on our end and we know that. This is most likely not going to happen until 2011. We want to make sure it is done right and that it is successful. I am working the my non-profit group to see if they want to come on board. We will need donations of jsut about everything and this would make it a tax deduction as well as being able to help kids and that is the goal.

So let us know what you think. Good or bad. We have already had some great response but need more. Stay tuned for a new webpage detailing what we are up to with this.

We are proud to announce that the Make A Wish foundation has agreed to come on and help us locate children and families that will participate in our ride along program.

Frank, I have a freind that built a street legal, two seater IMCA Modified. It is completely street legal and was also used at many tracks as a pace car with a light bar and can also be raced because it has the complete racing suspention. He is now selling this car if you might be interested. You can go here to see the complete build and the finished car. http://www.racestarpublications.com/index.html

I am on board. I think this could be a really worth while idea. I think that it would give a lot of people the chance to do something they might not otherwise be capably of doing. I will donate the graphics and my time for this project. Just let me know what you guys need and I am in. Heck, I know that my kid would flip his lid to get to ride in a car. I mean we start them up and drive them down the driveway (which isn't very big) and he loves that.

Thanks Nick. When I mentioned this to my kids they just looked at me and told me there is only one seat. I asked them what if we build a special car with a second seat. Still not sure how their eyes stayed in their heads. Think how much more exciting it will be for a child who might never get the chance to even drive a car on the road or grow up to the age to be able to drive. That is what I can't wait to see.

I have seen one thing, It doesn't matter what kind of race car from a FWD to the Baddest OLM, Kids (young and old) light up when they see them. That is one of the biggest reasons I stay in the sport. The kids that get excited now become the next generation drivers. I have had more fun doing car shows and promoting as a driver than anything. We are there to put on a show, and it is a blast doing it. I get kids and big kids stoping me every now and then when they recognize me from a track. Probably the closest thing to being famous as I will ever get, LOL. Frankie, agian, Let me know if there is anything you need to make this happen, and if I can't get the mustang chasis out back sold, I may have to make a ride along out of it...and give up the minitruck, we just got.

Thanks everyone for offering to help. This is getting bigger than I thought and the help is appreciated and needed. There is so much more to what we are planning than just the ride along. It is going to be a full winning experience for the special needs kids. After the checkered flag drops they will get a victory lap holding the flag, a shirt with thier name on it plus a decent sized trophy. Also planned is a video account of the entire thing. Hopefully incar also. That they will be able to have and watch over and over. I sure I will think of other things before all is said and done but that is it for now.

We have some things in the works to help this program. The main big one is that we, over the next few months, will be registering as a non-profit group. This will enable us to donate any funds that are received directly to a charity. Plus eliminates bunches of tax work. The name for this non-profit group will be....

Racing 4 Kids Charities

This will be done in association with StockCar Extreme and the Make A Wish foundation. It will mostly center around the ride along program.
